Flying Fingers:
Text-messaging overtakes monthly phone calls |
|
CI SUMMARY: More than three-quarters (77%) of wireless subscriber lines in the U.S. subscribe to or purchase text-message capability. Surpassing the number of monthly phone calls made in a month, text-messaging has become a new mainstream vehicle to market everything: TV shows, cars, soda, deodorant and dozens of other goods and services. Mobile Phone Marketing Four in Ten Americans Recall Seeing an Ad on their Mobile Device | clipped by: fuordigital
Mobile Messages Gain Awareness
Text is tops as 100 million-plus people are exposed to ads
NEW YORK Awareness of mobile ads has accelerated, per the
new Limbo-GfK Technology Advertising Report being released this
week. A record 104 million people (or an estimated four in 10
Americans) recalled seeing an ad on their mobile device between
July and September -- the highest mark since the report was
introduced last year.
"Brands are doing more with mobile, spending more," said Rob
Lawson, founder of Limbo, a mobile social networking community.
"Only two years ago they didn't see it as a channel where they
would see ads. Now they are increasingly aware. One hundred and
four million isn't the same as TV, but the audience is
significant." The survey was based on responses from 1,000 adults
polled via the phone.
Sixty million Americans saw a text ad, a 42 percent
increase from just nine months ago
Thirty-one million people, meanwhile, viewed mobile Web ads

Mobile Phone Marketing Mobile Video Draws 6.5 Million US Viewers in August | clipped by: fuordigital
A total of 6.5 million Americans - many of them younger males who watch amateur and music videos - tuned into mobile video in August, according to data released by comScore.
On-demand video is the most popular format, with 3.6 million viewers, the study found. Amateur videos, such as those on YouTube, drew 1.3 million viewers, and represent the most popular type of content, followed by music videos and comedy videos.
“At under three percent penetration, the mobile video audience in the United States remains small, but it is composed largely of males between 18 and 34 years old, which could make it attractive to advertisers seeking to reach multi-tasking early-adopters who don’t have time for appointment television.”
